My shop is in Albany NY, right in the middle of the Northeast's best trout, bass, pike, salmon, and laker hotspots, and some really wild springtime striper action on the Mighty Hudson River.
I’m a trout and salmon guy, but I service all types of fishing reels - baitcasting, spinning, saltwater, level-wind trolling, and fly reels. Reel service starts with a complete tear-down, inspection, and cleaning of all the parts. Your reels get a precise lube, and I put every one of them on a rod and test-fire them before they go back to you. Don't forget about your classic old heirloom reels that have been collecting dust - getting those oldtimers back out on the water is something I really dig.
Rod repairs include guide and tip replacement, rewrapping, reel seat and grip repair and replacement, and rod refinishing for casting, spinning, trolling, and fly rods. I can rebuild your old rods with new guide layouts that will blow away the original setup, and put on new grips and seats that will fit your hand like a glove.
My custom rods are precision, no-nonsense, zero-gimmick fishing tools dialed in to fit your hand, your reel, and your specific fishing conditions, something you just don't get on mass-produced factory rods. Out on the water, my rods will just plain hammer a comparable off-the-shelf factory rod, and at a very reasonable price.
3/8 Finally building a rod on a Rainshadow 7'6" swimbait blank, it's a blend of glass, RX6 & RX7 graphite. Did some test casts today with a Chronarch from Chris C. to tweek the guide layout, I just couldn't believe how far it fired, and I wasn't even laying in to it at all. Wish I had an excuse to make one of these monsters for myself! TIGHT LINES!
